Your Cartoonist, KEVIN J. GUHL

Kev Kevin J. Guhl is neither fork, nor spoon, nor knife, nor any form of exotic utensil such as the spatula. He is a man, a hu-MAN, and he came into this world with a pen in one hand and a fork in the other. The doctors were quite shocked. He lives to write, even writes to live just barely. And he draws, too, though not as good as he did back in his high school days, before the dark time when he gave up drawing to focus for some unknown reason on becoming a reporter. Rumors of a Clark Kent fixation are just that; please ignore the Superman shrine on his desk at work. And the Superman Mardi Gras love beads hanging from the wall. Mr. Guhl is a wanderer, a dreamer, perhaps too much of the latter. He lives for old friends, good times and rock 'n roll.

HISTORY:You don't want to hear the whole sordid experience but as pertains to the Fork, the everloving Fork, Mr. Guhl first scribbled him down in 1989 as part of a grand plan to start a school newspaper that was actually a vehicle for his comics. How his editor today would be so proud. Heaven knows how the idea for a talking fork came to be but legend says it could have had something to do with the now defunct EPCOT attraction Kitchen Kabaret. Detective Fork began life awkwardly as most things do and then disappeared for years, resurfacing in a darker and slightly better drawn way when the cartoonist needed a replacement comic for his college newspaper in 2001. Hey, Professor was out and The Fork was in. Amusing how things are somewhat circular, no? Well, perhaps an ellipse or pretzel-shaped object.
